About Us

The division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Dalhousie University is based in entirely in Halifax.  The teaching faculty is comprised of 16 surgeons who represent every sub-specialty in Orthopaedic Surgery.  All are faculty of Dalhousie University and work primarily at the New Halifax Infirmary and the IWK Grace Health Center for Women and Children.

The Division of Orthopedics is part of the Department of surgery at Dalhousie University.  The training program is a five-year program in which the goal is to create an environment where the resident can maximize his or her skills in all fields of Orthopaedic Surgery.  The training program includes all aspects of training patient care, surgical technique, and clinical and basic science research.  The goal of the training program is to have all residents become well rounded Orthopedics Surgeons who are capable of either pursuing an academic or non-academic career.
